Don’t Ask Don’t Tell…Are We Done Yet?

By “done” I don’t mean repealed….by “done” I mean finished letting our lives be in the hands of people who don’t care about us or civil rights in any sense of the word. Are we done allowing our lives to be used as bargaining chips in the power game they play in Congress? I don’t even know where to begin…The botched “deal” made by Democrats where they allow soldiers to continue being discharged so they can “secure votes”…..lol…what a joke. How about the fact that prior to the vote, Joe Biden only called ONE republican senator to lobby for his vote…Obama called NO ONE and issued ZERO statements encouraging the repeal. Wheres the fierce advocacy here?

I am not against Gays serving openly in the Military. How come “FAT” people can’t serve? What about handicap people? If all are going to serve then ALL should get to serve. An overweight person can’t carry a ruck sack and fight, well let them not deploy and serve in the US and do the paper work for those that are fit and can. But if you are going to talk rights, then that includes everyone, RIght?

I agree with the points made in this video. It’s possible that I will leave the Democratic Party at some point. They need to stop expecting votes and taking minority groups for granted. Still, I am reluctant to allow the alternative, which imho is even worse, to prevail.

  6. sleekcartim Says:

the sad reality is that it isnt important enough to these idiots. the support is there, which is exactly why they are not doing it. Obama doesnt want to wrestle with the overtaxed military behind the scenes over this.

Not a Republican anymore? Hummm … I knew you’d come to the dark side someday! :)=)
Obama’s DOJ also didn’t appeal Judge Tauro’s decision in Gill v. OPM in MA yet.
I’m using the same theory as you are while watching this DOMA case. I guess an appeal can show Obama’s true intents. Not sure that’s the way is works, but what options we have besides guessings at this point?

PS . I’m very upset you did’t include me on your “Hot YouTube Men” list! ARGGGG

I don´t get how the government can have a law that says it´s ok to discriminate people. If I work in the military and I am bi can I then get discharged if I live with a person of the same sex ? But serve the military if I live with the opposite sex? This sounds so crazy. I´m still the same person regardless who I love and spend my life with. They must come to there senses soon and understand that DADT is so wrong. Thanks Bryan and Jay for posting this and all the other videos.

Were allowed to serve in our country the US of A politicians are so screwed up, ONLY in America would they let gay people marry on day, take it back & then give it the go again, they need to get there acts together, They are surpose to be setting examples.

Just checked my country’s stance on homosexuality in the military, and GLBT have been able to openly serve in the military since 2000. I really wouldn’t have expected such a difference in policy between two militarys/governments that have been very involved with eachother (especially so since 9/11). I find something very odd about that…

  12. jranimooo Says:

I honestly don’t think that the Republican Party has ever had a positive stance on gay rights. That being said, the Democrats give us the illusion that they will fight for us, but they later stab us in the back by being silent. It sure looks hopeless doesn’t it?

  13. kd1s Says:

Ah come on, a little stridency isn’t such a bad thing. Yes you’re an alpha, I know it well enough because I’m one too.

But McCain – he’s just toeing the line and I hope he suffers a debilitating aneurysm.

  14. kd1s Says:

BTW, I knew this was going to happen. This all starts at the top with Obama. Hopefully during his SECOND term we’ll see some action.

  15. slapalib Says:

why go in the homophobe military if you cant follow the agenda. and because you dont get elevated for your choices, does not mean you are killed or stoned or even ostrisized. relax, be gay . and be thankfull you live here. let regular men serve without this offront to tradition.

  16. MarsCocoa Says:

why you kill and eat kids, mister rainbowpagan2 ?

obama just really urks me at this point.

It’s just a matter of time… literally we are having to wait for all these old conservative men to die so the younger generation can come in a change things.

off topic: I always have such a hard time writing various papers for school, I can never think of what to say… but when I see y’alls vids i always want to type out paragraph after paragraph. 😛

I understand anger & disappointment we all have about Dems not doing anything for us. But, watching Rachel Maddow, I’m thinking of the wacky, more Republican Tea-flavored Senate we might have if Dems lose more seats (like they’ve lost Teddy Kennedy’s MA seat). That wackiness will definitely throw us back!

We should hold Dems accountable, but not voting for them means voting for GOP. I say talk to your Dems and find out where they stand on gay issues, don’t dismiss them based on partisanship!

  19. depfox Says:

@KirilleXXI I think they lost the seat because democrats stayed home they are tired of being lied to by democrats….If democrats would just do what they say when they are running for office then they wouldnt have to worry

  20. KirilleXXI Says:

    @depfox
Yes, Martha Coakley lost the MA elections, but she’s the one who brought us the DOMA case, and DOMA was ruled unconstitutional! So sad we lost an obviously pro-gay legislator in Senate!

Democratic voters are not motivated, that’s what I’m talking about, and that’s why we’re gonna lose big time, and that’s why it’s gonna be even worse for us with Republicans in Senate.

Democrats are stupid not to run on good things they’ve done; we have to be smarter and give them a chance.

  21. KirilleXXI Says:

    @depfox
    Sorry for time delay.
    Hi from my fiancé Felyx!

We got some bad news about transgender marriage rights. A frequent commenter on Prop8TrialTracker and prominent transgender issues writer, male-to-female transgender person Michelle Evans received a ruling on her 23-year-long marriage to a woman (they married as a heterosexual couple when Michelle was a he); the California court ANNULLED their marriage — because now they are a gay female couple! This is gonna be big!!!

  22. Lupitamihita Says:

You are right. Obama is being wish-washy. He needs to to make a stand.

  23. gilbertblaze Says:

I really happy that I didn’t join the Army 8yrs ago..I was so set on doing it…but no telling how I would of handle having to lie about myself and be in the closet …I just can’t do that….I’m ashamed by the democrats for not banning together to get rid of this..I just have no faith in politicans

  24. Zed1967 Says:

I’m a bi-sexual guy and served in the Royal Navy for nearly 6 years from 1985 to 1991, I never revealed my sexuality though as that would have ended my naval career. I’m sure ex armed forces people all over the world can tell a similar story.

  25. LORDNAG1 Says:

Its a shame that people who try to run for office can’t get on ballot for lack of money or support fomr ither the democratz or republicans. Like mike graval, All you see is two fucking choices every election. It is aload of hoerse shit.
